How do I analyze a technical drawing with Mia?

Upload a clearly legible plan and check the information extracted from it.

The short answer

Upload the drawing in a supported file format and describe what Mia should extract from it. Specify the relevant page, view, or component. Ask for an overview of the recognized information with units and source references. Check dimensions, assignments, and illegible areas before using this information for a calculation. An analysis of a drawing is not yet a structural verification.

Prepare the drawing

Use a legible plan with visible dimension lines, units, and position labels. If there are multiple pages or views, specify which are relevant for the task. Describe the desired evaluation, such as dimensions of a beam or the structure of a depicted system.

You can write: On page 2, evaluate the marked beam. List clearly legible dimensions and material specifications with their source. Mark unclear or missing information and ask instead of adding values.

Check recognized values and relationships

Check the assignment of dimension lines, sections, axes, and components. Do not confuse external dimensions with spans or clear distances. If there are conflicting details, clarify which representation applies.

Do not derive dimensions from image pixels without verification. A stated scale alone does not guarantee dimensional accuracy after scanning or scaling. Support conditions, material, or loads are also not automatically clear from every drawing.

Adopt only clarified inputs

Explicitly correct misread values with the correct unit and source. Add missing information before starting a calculation. Ask for an updated input summary in which confirmed information and open points are listed separately.

Automatic transfer as a complete RFEM model is not guaranteed. Describe a desired model setup as a separate work step and check its result separately.
