How do I create or modify an RFEM model with Mia?

Connect RFEM, describe the task, and check the changes made.

Dlubal CALC · Updated:

The short answer

First, set up the connection to RFEM 6 and activate RFEM access for the chat. Tell Mia whether a new model should be created or a specific existing model should be modified. Describe geometry, materials, cross-sections, supports, and loads. Check the target model and the scope of changes before and after execution. Which actions are possible depends on the available RFEM functions and permissions.

Prepare access and the target model

For installation, coupling, and connection testing, follow the FAQ on RFEM connection. Then clearly name the target model. Before making changes to an existing project, save an appropriate model state.

For a first attempt, you can ask Mia: Check the RFEM connection and create a new demo model. Do not modify existing models. Ask for missing information before creating components and loads.

Describe changes as precisely as possible

Name the affected objects and the desired values with units. Distinguish between creating new, modifying, and deleting. If the assignment is unclear, first ask which objects would be affected.

Check the result in RFEM, especially geometry, materials, cross-sections, supports, load cases, and loads. A successful connection does not necessarily mean that the desired model change has been executed.

Separate model creation and calculation

A created model is not yet a calculated or fully verified model. Afterwards, specifically request the required calculation and check the results actually returned.

If an action fails, check the current model state before trying again. A partially executed action may already have made changes. Tell Mia which error message is displayed and which change is still missing.
