Files and assets
Attach a document to a chat and the assistant can read it: a load schedule, a section from a standard, a supplier table, a drawing.
Which formats are read

Up to 20 MB per file. Model and geometry formats are a separate matter and are covered in Models.
Example: you attach the client's load schedule as .xlsx and ask "use the loads from
the sheet for the purlin, and tell me which row you took". The answer names the row, which
is the point: a value you cannot trace back is a value you cannot sign.
Attachments need a paid plan
File attachments come with Professional and above. On Free and Starter, write the numbers into the message instead. That is not a worse answer, only a slower one to type.
Who can see an attachment
The chat it is attached to, and nothing else. Not your other chats, not a colleague's, unless you share that chat.
An attachment travels with a shared chat. Before sharing a chat as a link, check what is attached to it: a share link is a link, and whoever holds it can open the conversation and its files.
Assets are account-wide, not per project
A file you upload is available across your account rather than trapped in the project you uploaded it from. This is deliberate: a national annex extract or a company standard is used in every project, and having to upload it once per project would be busywork with a storage bill attached.
