FAQ-000043 · Plans & credits

Are there limits on messages and work steps in CALC?

There is no fixed number of questions per day. A few safeguards keep usage predictable.

Dlubal CALC · Updated:

The short answer

CALC has no fixed daily number of questions. Your credit balance determines how much you can use. A few safeguards apply: Mia can take up to 30 work steps to answer one message, you can send up to 30 messages per minute, and a daily usage limit protects your account against unusually high consumption. The step limit is the same in every plan and in both reasoning tiers.

What a work step is

To answer one message, Mia often needs several steps: for example, searching the Dlubal Knowledge Base, calculating with program code, or sending a script to RFEM. How many steps she needs depends on the task, so the number varies from message to message.

For one message, Mia can take up to 30 steps. Some Skills with longer fixed workflows allow up to 100 steps.

When the steps run out

If Mia reaches the limit before she has a complete answer, the message ends without a result. You are not charged for it: the credits for the message and for RFEM requests in that message are returned. The same applies if no answer arrives at all, for example because of a connection error.

Split large tasks into separate requests, for example model creation first and calculation second. Each request then has its full number of steps available, and you can check each result.

Message rate and daily usage limit

You can send up to 30 messages per minute. In addition, a daily usage limit applies over the last 24 hours. It depends on your plan and protects your account against unusually high consumption.

If you reach it, CALC shows the notice “You've reached today's usage limit. Please try again tomorrow.” Your credits stay on your account.
